Yes people, say hello to Sonyericsson’s first ever Android phone – the Xperia X10 and since this is Sony; you can expect stellar aesthetics and build quality.

First the hardware side of this mega phone from Sonyericsson, it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 1GHz processor so after Google’s Nexus One this is going to be another megapowered Android handset. It has a 4.0 inch capacitive touch screen with 480×854 pixels (WVGA) resolution. Apart from that it is packed with all the Android standard hardware pack, aGPS, USB, digital compass, WiFi but the most special feature would be an 8.1-megapixel camera with auto focus, face recognition, flash, smile-detection and video recording with video light and going by the sonyericsson experience it should have a great audio and video quality. As for the form factor, the handset is pretty thin – only half an inch. The dimensions are 4.7”x2.5”x0.5”. So you can imagine how large the phone is. The Internal memory is 1GB minus whatever the software is taking up (not announced yet). You can put in a MicroSD card, which come in a maximum of 16GB right now. They included an 8GB card when you will purchase it.

The most impressive side of this devise would be the software side of the handset. First is the Mediascape media browser and face recognition in photos integrated with your contacts. Mediascape brings all your photos and videos and links them with the contacts making it easy to bring up the media associated with any contact. Second, there is the Timescape feature. Timescape is a feature that consolidates your conversations and communications with a person. Be it on Facebook, text, phone or email, you can view them all in one place per person using Timescape. I personally like this feature because it sounds like something we all need. I hope it has threaded SMS conversations. Given the myriad communication platforms we use today, features like this one are fast becoming necessities.

All in all it should be a nice new addition to the already large and impressive range of Android devices. Considering this is a sonyericsson device it would mean that another major cell phone manufacturer has joined the ever growing club of Android manufacturers. This handset is all set to hit the market on 1st of April (unconfirmed).<ins datetime="2010-03-11T02:01:07+00:00"></ins>
You can think of the term “lightweight” in the good old fashion of Win95, a consistent user interface and small bundle of very common and useful tools. Although lightweight, ReactOS offers a lot in comparison to Windows 95, with an up-to-date experience as well as built from scratch on a rock solid NT core.

Gesture Cube uses 3D spatial movement tracking to help transform navigating a device into a magical intuitive experience. The underlying GestIC® technology detects your hand´s approach and movements – your favorite apps and media all at a wave of your hand.

If you want to use the Gesture Cube, don’t touch it just wave your hand and access your music collection, surf the web, and do many things you want to do. It is based on IDENT’s GestIC electric field sensing technology, the Cube is a interface system in the form factor of a six-sided cube.

The GestIC detects movements and distances in 3D space, enabling gesture control without any physical touching of any sort. The video demonstration is quite striking, and features a high-tech, futuristic interface.

The Gesture Cube is quite the device, but it’s not exactly for the portable consumer. We already have trouble fitting something the size of an iPad in our pockets, let alone a cube-shaped device. If this were to manifest in the consumer market, stick it for home usage.

Yesterday Sony Ericsson announced its brand new Windows Mobile 6.5.3 OS based cellphone, Sony Ericsson Aspen. Aspen gives you look and feel of black berry style cell phones but its the fist with windows mobile 6.5.3. Its a business-focused QWERTY candybar with 3.2 megapixel camera, A-GPS with Google Maps, 3.5-mm audio jack, WiFi, and microSD expansion and will be available in white and black in the second quarter of 2010.

For starters, this release now includes a more finger-friendly layout (no stylus needed even when digging deep into the OS), support for capacitive touchscreens (hoozah!), and acts as a platform to enable multi-touch. Microsoft has also improved browser performance with faster page load times, better memory management, while improving the pan and flick gestures and zoom and rotational speeds.

Blogging on Tumblr using their web interface couldn’t possibly be easier. That said, since its inception, Tumblr has continued to add new features enhancing the user experience, the latest of which is the ‘Ask’ feature, opening up more means of interaction by allowing readers to submit questions, which you can choose to answer in the form of blog posts. And of course, since its inception, third party apps have cropped up, complementing their straightforward approach to blogging. Here are 4 must-have free cross platform desktop and browser apps to blog on Tumblr.

Tumbleweed

When you open up the Adobe Air app, Tumbleweed, the first thing you see are your latest posts. Tumbleweed allows you to post to all 7 categories available on Tumblr, text posts, photos, quotes, links, chat, audio and video posts. When it comes to videos, you can’t upload files directly from your computer to Tumblr, but rather have the ability to embed a video that is already available online.

Tumbleweed supports multiple tumblelogs, and you can add tags and custom urls to your posts when you blog on Tumblr.

Drawbacks: Posts are not automatically sent to your Twitter feed.

AlertThingy

AlertThingy is another Adobe Air client you can use to update your Tumblelog. You can add entries to any of the 7 categories, drag and drop photos, and audio and video files. To post a video, copy and paste the embed code into the body of a new text entry, and it will convert it into a video.

Drawbacks: AlertThingy does not support multiple Tumblelogs, posts are not sent to your Twitter feed, embedded videos are classified as text posts, and some of you might not like the fact that each post is appended with the text ‘via AlertThingy.’

Chrome Tumblr Dashboard

If you’re a Google Chrome fan, you’ll be happy to know the Chrome Dashboard extension allows you to share content easily from within Chrome, and to also check out the latest posts from tumblelogs you follow.

If you’re watching a video online and want to share it the next time you blog on Tumblr, simply click on the ‘Share on Tumblr’ link, and it will automatically embed the video for you and fill out the caption with the video title, and with YouTube videos, it also adds a link to the YouTube member’s profile page. Links and article titles are also automatically filled in for you. If there are several photos on a page, the extension will provide you with a list of thumbnails and choosing one fills in the link to the image from the website.

The Chrome extension gives you access to advanced Tumblr features including publishing options, tags and custom urls, and supports multiple tumblelogs.

Drawbacks: The window can be a little bit slow to load, and copy and paste doesn’t work.

Tumblr Post

The Tumblr Firefox addon Tumblr Post gives you quick access to blog on Tumblr by letting you write a text entry, upload photos or audio files from your computer, as well as posting the link to the current page you are on, by right-clicking the Tumblr icon in the Firefox status bar on the bottom of the page.
