The term flat screen is widely used to describe almost any TV with a screen that isn’t curved. The new Samsung PN50B850 is a flat screen in its true sense. In fact it is the thinnest flat screen out there right now. It is just 1.2 inches thick.
The Samsung PN50B850 offers a lot of multimedia features, has excellent picture quality, and overwhelming energy efficiency. The special deal about plasmas is that even at wide angles, the contrast and color from these devices remains detailed and nearly takes over the same offered by the new 240-Hz LCDs.
The glossy black bezel of the PN50B850 rests on a metallic swivel base. The TV lacks the annoying indicator lights but its silvery surface causes reflections. The illuminated Samsung logo on the device can be turned off from its illuminated state. The TV features a remote control that boasts of amber backlighting. The remote features well labeled, big buttons that are extremely responsive to touch. As far as connections on the TV are concerned, you will find four HDMI inputs, a VGA out, a component video support, a couple of USB ports, an Ethernet jack, and finally an RF input.
Just connect the TV to internet and you can readily get firmware updates for the device’s software. You also get to access Yahoo Widget Gallery, Flickr, and Twitter via the TV on broadband. In terms of file support, the TV supports MP3, DivX, MKV, JPEG, MP4, and MPEG-2 multimedia file formats.
The TV comprises about 148MB of internal storage space. It can also connect to Wi-Fi enabled devices with support for DLNA Digital Media Controller. The TV produces highly detailed and accurate color reproduction. The experience of TV viewing on this TV is exceptional. It produces a good contrasted picture in both dark as well as well lit rooms.
